Agentic Commerce is now live in operation: Forter sees AI agents already placing orders, and Worldline, ING and Mastercard report an agentic payment in live production, according to a report (statements from the parties involved, not independently confirmed). Shopware's Agentic Commerce Maturity Index also gives you a tool to measure your own readiness. What remains open is when payment providers will enable such payments for shops.
🇪🇺 EU · Worldline, ING and Mastercard: agentic payment in live production in Europe
According to a report of 2 October 2026, Worldline, ING and Mastercard completed an agentic payment end to end in live production. Worldline ran a comparable live flow with Visa in Germany. The customer confirms their intent biometrically and has a 48-hour window to complete the purchase. These are statements from the parties involved; the sources contain no independent reports. The related Mastercard announcement dates from 2 June 2026.
What you can do: Ask your payment provider whether and when it will enable such agent payments for your shop, and how the 48-hour window affects your order and warehouse processes.

🇩🇪 DE · Shopware introduces the Agentic Commerce Maturity Index
According to a report of 7 October 2026, Shopware has launched the Agentic Commerce Maturity Index (ACMI). The tool measures how ready a retailer is for Agentic Commerce. It is an analysis tool for retailers, not a purchase or payment function for end customers. It is available for Germany; the source says nothing about Austria or Switzerland.
What you can do: Run your shop through the index once and treat its weakest dimension as your work assignment. Check beforehand whether the tool is also open to shops on other systems.

To-dos for tomorrow
Three things for tomorrow: First, ask your payment provider whether and when it will enable agentic payments for your shop, and how the 48-hour window until completion affects your order and warehouse processes. Worldline, ING and Mastercard say they have completed such a payment in live production; there are no independent reports on this. Second, run your shop through Shopware's Agentic Commerce Maturity Index once and make the weakest dimension your work assignment. First check whether the tool is also open to shops on other systems. It is available for Germany, and the source says nothing about Austria or Switzerland. Third, ask your fraud and bot management whether agent orders are detected and whether legitimate agents are not blocked across the board. Forter reports that AI agents are already placing real orders.
